Buy, Sell and Inherit Property With Confidence

Property is often the biggest investment a family makes, and it is also one of the most common sources of disputes. Before buying, the ownership record, the chain of title and any encumbrances should be checked. After a sale, the transfer has to be completed through the correct deed and recorded properly in the land records.

Our legal team verifies property documents, prepares and reviews sale agreements and deeds, explains the mutation (intiqal) and registration process, and advises on inheritance and succession matters. For civil disputes, we review your documents and advise you on the best course of action.

Good to Know

Before You Buy Property

Verify the current owner

Check that the seller is the recorded owner in the latest land record and that the documents match. In Punjab, records for many areas are maintained by the Punjab Land Records Authority.

Check for disputes and encumbrances

Make sure the property is not under litigation, mortgage or another claim before making payment.

Complete the transfer properly

A sale is completed through a registered deed and should be followed by mutation in the land records. Taxes such as advance tax and stamp duty apply, and filers pay lower advance tax.
