Check your filer status, get your name added to FBR’s Active Taxpayer List and keep it active every year.
FBR’s Active Taxpayer List (ATL) is the official list of people and businesses treated as filers. Being on the ATL means lower withholding tax on cash withdrawals, property purchases and sales, vehicle registration, utility bills and many other transactions. Banks, property offices and other withholding agents check the ATL before deciding which rate to apply.
Your name is added to the ATL only after you file your income tax return, and it stays there only if you keep filing. We check your current status, file any missing return, handle the ATL surcharge if you filed late and make sure your status stays active in future years.
Whether you have never filed or your name has dropped off the list, we help you become an active filer.
Being a filer saves money for almost everyone who uses banks, buys assets or runs a business.
Lower tax deductions on cash withdrawals and profit on savings.
Much lower advance tax at the time of property transfer.
Lower withholding tax when registering or transferring a vehicle.
Lower deductions on payments received and better standing with clients and banks.
If you are already registered, the process is quick.
Four clear steps from your first message to completed work, with updates at every stage.
We check whether your name is on the ATL and why it may be missing.
We prepare and file the return required for inclusion.
For late filing, we prepare the payment challan for the ATL surcharge.
We confirm your name on the list and remind you before next year’s deadline.
You can check your status on FBR’s ATL search page using your CNIC or NTN, or by sending an SMS in the format “ATL (space) 13-digit CNIC” to 9966. If you are not on the list, contact us and we will find out why.
If you file your return by the due date, your name is added when FBR updates the list. If you file after the due date, a surcharge applies before your name is included.
The ATL is based on returns filed for the most recent tax year. If you skip a year, your name can be removed, and the higher non-filer rates apply again.
Answers to the questions clients ask us most about this service.
FBR updates the list regularly throughout the year, so newly filed returns are reflected after the next update.
Registration alone does not make you a filer. Your name is added only after you file the income tax return for the relevant tax year.
If your return is filed by the due date, no surcharge applies. For returns filed late, a surcharge is payable before inclusion. We confirm the current amount for your category.
Yes. Companies and associations of persons appear on the income tax ATL when they file their returns. There is also a separate list for sales tax registered persons.
